SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR MESSAGE – SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR MESSAGE – SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR MESSAGE – SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR MESSAGE –
Friends of Keystone Emmaus Community:
You remember the story, Cleopas and his friend were going to the Village of Emmaus and Jesus himself came up and walked along with them. But they were kept from recognizing him until the Living Christ was revealed to them in the breaking of the bread, and they said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the scriptures to us? ”
As you reflect on your Walk or Flight, you likely had one of those ” Were not our heart burning moments.” It made your Walk or Flight one of those moments in your life when you knew that God intended you for something greater than just going through life, you knew as Rick Warren said, “You were created for a Purpose.”
Isaiah wasn’t with Cleopas on the Road to Emmaus but in a Vision described in Isaiah Chapter 6 heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And Isaiah replied, “Here am I. Send Me!” Each of us has completed our Walk or Flight with a renewed purpose to serve God, some of those callings have challenged us to serve and we have responded, “Send Me!” We are challenged to feed the hungry, cloth the stranger, visit and counsel the sick and those in prison-Christ will reply,”I tell you the truth whatever you did for one of the least of these Brothers and Sisters you did it for me.”(Matthew 25:31-46) Remember Cleopas and your heart burning experience and think about the opportunities to help someone else experience that love of Christ in the same way. Remember Isaiah’s answer Send Me, when you consider how you can Serve Keystone Emmaus or Chrysalis Community in 2009.
Think about Sponsorship and when God asks “Whom shall I send?”, reply “Send Me!” Sponsorship is a gift of Agape Love.
When walks come around and folks are needed for background to serve a meal or clean the bathrooms reply “Send Me!”
When you receive your Keystone Emmaus Newsletter about Send Off, Candlelight, or Closing, it is God’s invitation to attend, and it will be God asking,”Whom shall I send?”, answer “Send Me!”
When someone asks you to give a 4th Day Talk or to take a slot in a Prayer Vigil, did you ever think God is calling you..Who will speak for me and Who will pray for Me?? God is asking you, “Whom shall I send?, answer “Send Me!”
I hope and pray that in this coming Year 2009 Serving on Team, Speaking at a Fourth Day Event, Attending a Send Off, Candlelight, Closing, or Gathering, you will hear God like Isaiah did, and answer in the same way so that someone may say,Were not our hearts burning…” and you can pass on that blessing that is the Walk or Flight To Emmaus or Chrysalis to another Brother or Sister in Christ.
